Enigma’s threat comes from his massive team‑fight presence: a cheap Demonic Summoning, a zone‑control Event Horizon, and the game‑ending Black Hole. The key to shutting him down is denying the space and time he needs to set up his vortex, and forcing him to waste health on summons while he is still vulnerable.

Why These Heroes Beat Enigma

Sniper

Sniper’s extreme range lets him harass Enigma before he can get close enough to cast Event Horizon or Black Hole, and his Assassinate can finish Enigma when he’s low on health from Demonic Summoning.
Tip: Position on high ground and use Take Aim to push the lane, forcing Enigma to retreat or waste his summons on a dead‑weight target.

Nature's Prophet

Nature's Prophet can split‑push and appear anywhere with Teleportation, denying Enigma the farm needed for his summons and forcing him to split his attention. His Sprout can trap Enigma’s eidolons, and Wrath of Nature damages Enigma’s low‑health Eidolons, reducing his overall damage output.
Tip: Keep a Teleport ready to join fights only after Enigma’s Black Hole is on cooldown, then burst him with Nature’s Call.

Terrorblade

Terrorblade’s Metamorphosis gives him massive ranged damage that can shred Enigma’s low‑health Eidolons and the hero himself, while Sunder can turn Enigma’s health‑sacrificing Demonic Summoning against him. The illusion army also forces Enigma to waste Black Hole on non‑threats.
Tip: Initiate with Reflection to block Enigma’s Malefice stun, then drop Sunder when Enigma’s health dips below 30%.

Silencer

Silence from Global Silence or Last Word prevents Enigma from casting Event Horizon and Black Hole, effectively neutering his combo. Silencer’s Glaives of Wisdom also pierce through Eidolon clusters, dealing consistent damage.
Tip: Time Global Silence just before Enigma starts channeling Black Hole; follow up with a burst of Mana Leak to keep his mana low for summons.

Ember Spirit

Ember’s Sleight of Fist can dodge the stun from Malefice and quickly burst the three Eidolons, while Flame Guard provides magic immunity against Midnight Pulse and the damage from Black Hole. His mobility lets him escape the pull of Event Horizon.
Tip: Use Fire Remnant to reposition behind Enigma after he casts Event Horizon, then unleash Sleight of Fist on the Eidolons.

Drafting Against Enigma

  • Prioritize heroes with long range or global presence (e.g., Sniper, Nature’s Prophet, Terrorblade).
  • Pick strong silence or spell‑interrupt abilities (Silencer, Night Stalker).
  • Include high‑mobility heroes that can dodge Event Horizon and Black Hole (Ember Spirit, Puck).
  • Consider early‑game aggression heroes that can pressure Enima before he can afford Demonic Summoning.

Laning Against Enigma

  • Harass him with ranged attacks to force early Demonic Summoning and drain his health.
  • Trade when his Malefice cooldown is up; his stun leaves him vulnerable to counter‑attacks.
  • Push the lane aggressively after he uses Event Horizon, as his mobility is limited.
  • Keep the lane near tower range to deny him safe space for Midnight Pulse.

Itemizing Against Enigma

Manta Style — dispels Malefice stun and Black Hole pull, while the split images pressure his Eidolons.
Ghost Scepter — makes you untargetable by Midnight Pulse and the physical damage from Eidolons.
Eul’s Scepter — cyclones Enigma, interrupting Event Horizon and buying time for your team to reposition.
Aghanim’s Shard (Silencer) — grants Global Silence, shutting down Enigma’s combo entirely.
